মেঘ হয়ে জন্মাবার অনেক আনন্দ আছে
(There is much joy in being born as a cloud)যদি কেউ মনখারাপ করে দেয়, লুকিয়ে কাঁদলেও
(If someone offends her, even if she cries in secret,)সে ঝর্না সবাইকে ধুয়ে-মুছে বিশুদ্ধ করে দেয়।
(the fountain washes everyone clean)পরের জন্মে আমাকে মেঘের দেশের বাসিন্দা করো সৃষ্টিকর্তা!
(Oh creator, let me be a cloud-dweller in my next life, I plea)মন যদি খারাপ হয় তবে আমরা বলি মনে মেঘ জমেছে,
(If the heart is hurt, we say the heart is clouded,)চাঁদের মত উচ্ছল মুখের কোনে মলিনতা দেখা দিলেও তো
(Even if we see impurity in the face of the moon,)প্রশ্ন করি- কেন চাঁদ মুখর মেখ জমেছে?
(We ask why the moon has a cloudy face?)মেঘ কি তবে সত্যি-ই মলিনতার সজ্ঞা?
(Is the cloud really a sign of impurity?)প্রখর তপ্ততায় পুড়ে যাওয়া দুপুরে মেঘ যেন এক নতুন জীবনের পরশ
(On a scorching hot afternoon, the cloud is like a shower of new life,)ঘনকাল রূপকে যত গুরু গম্ভীর বলে ভাবি আমি মাটিতে দাঁড়িয়ে,
(I stand on the ground and think how profound their shape is)উড়োযান যখন নিয়ে যায় ওদের ওপরে, দেখি মেঘেরা সব
(When they take off into the sky, I see them all)দলবেঁধে এক হয়ে করছে খেলা, ভূমি থেকে মাত্র মিছু ওপরে।
(Playing together, forming one big mass, only mist above the ground.)মেঘ হয়ে জন্মানো তাই সবটা-ই আনন্দের,
(Being born as a cloud is all joy,)ভাবুকের ভাবনা, আঁকিয়েদের আঁকা, মেঘেদের হাসায় কেবল
(The emotions of the pensive, the art of the painters, the laughter of the clouds,)আপন খেয়ালে কয়-ছায়া পেতে, বৃষ্টির পরশ পেতো
(Just to catch a few shades in your imagination, to get the rain’s droplets,)আমাদেরই তখন করো কতো শত বন্দনা!
(We alone can offer a hundred salutations then!)অঝরে ঝরতে অথবা তুলোট মেঘের সখি হয়ে দেশান্তরি হতে
(To melt away or to become a friend of the towering cloud and become an expatriate,)ওদের যে লাগেনা পাসপোর্ট, লাগেনা ইনভিটেশন ছাড়।
(They don’t need a passport or an invitation.)যদি কখনো মুখে আমার ভর করে মেঘের ছায়া,
(If ever my face is filled with the shadow of a cloud,)আমি হবো এক মুহূর্তের জন্য তুলোট্মেঘের সখি একজনা।
(I will be a friend of the towering cloud for a moment.)পরের জন্মে আমি তাই মেঘ হয়েই জন্মাতে চাই।
(In my next life, I want to be born as a cloud.)আরাধ্য হয়েই বাস করবো নিষ্প্রাণ মানুষের মাথার ওপরে
(Residing as an adored one, I will dwell in the land of clouds forever.)পাবেনা নাগাল, রইবেনা সীমানা
(No reach, no boundaries)বৃষ্টির কণার রূপে আসবে ফিরে সতেজ করার উস্ত হয়ে।
(Will come back in the form of raindrops to refresh.)
