Meet Jannatul Ferdous Ivy, a leading Bangladeshi filmmaker, writer, and human rights activist. Ivy is a fierce advocate for the rights of marginalized communities, with a particular focus on women with disabilities and burn accident survivors. As the Executive Director of the NGO “Voice & Views,” she is at the forefront of promoting equality, justice, and empowerment for those who are often overlooked by society. Ivy’s work has earned her a prominent place in the fight for human rights in Bangladesh and beyond. She was listed in “BBC 100 Women 2023” as one of the 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world for 2023.
Jannatul Ferdous Ivy’s commitment to making a positive impact in the world is reflected in her impressive educational background. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) from the National University of Bangladesh, a Master of Arts in English Literature from National University of Bangladesh, a degree in Development Studies from BRAC University, LLB from the National University of Bangladesh, and an Diploma in Social Compliance from the Bangladesh Institute of Management. These academic achievements have equipped her with the necessary knowledge to effectively contribute to policy advocacy and promote social justice.
In addition to her extensive educational background, Ivy has a passion for English Literature, Film Studies, and Photography. These creative pursuits inspire her to use storytelling as a tool for promoting positive change and raising awareness for important issues. Jannatul Ferdous Ivy’s advocacy work is deeply personal to her. As a woman with a physical disability resulting from burns, she knows firsthand the challenges and discrimination faced by women with disabilities.
